The Digiteen project is a project studying digital citizenship with partners around the world. It culminates in a school digital citizenship action program that is done multiple times a year. This program is appropriate for students ages 11 and up. In the textbook, Flattening Classroom, Engaging Minds, it states that there are 3 required core outcomes in the Digiteen project.

Unique projects assigned by the teachers as part of the action project based on curricular objectives
Live social networking is used to research so students can experience the technologies they are studying. The project representation of "glocalization" by addressing issues affecting digital life and learning and those ideas a discussed globally, not just in the classroom. From there, students use their leadership skills to implement action in the local community. This service learning is powerful learning. An important part of the Digiteen project is that students are encouraged to validate sources and contact experts via Facebook or Twitter. I found this new teacher guide that gives new teachers a good starting point in the Digiteen project. In this guide, it describes the five areas of awareness that relate to being a digital citizen.

Culture awareness
Global awareness
This sounds like a great project to incorporate into the classroom. I can see students getting very excited and motivated to do this work. I see a little risk associated with this project because of the use of social media, however I feel if netiquette is properly explained, then the benefit would outweigh the risk. The teacher guide had a lot of information that would be beneficial to a new teacher.
